Game design may differ from the content below.

Status: implemented (v4 — prize-card redesign). Describes the game as built. gameId: draw8. Ships as a runtime-loaded plugin (../project97_draw8, symlinked at plugins/draw8), not as host source.

Game summary

Untimed, single-shot. The play area shows 8 half-white card frames fanned in an arch across the top — each seated on a radial from the prize card's centre and tilted along it — and a single face-down prize card (accent-colour back, "?") along the bottom. On bet, 8 cards are dealt face up into the frames, then the prize card turns and every non-paying card greys out in place. The best 5-card poker hand — wild jokers included — then slides upright into a ranked row across the centre, the dimmed cards keeping their frames, and pays on a normal 5-card-poker scale × the applied prize.

The prize wheel

One prize per round off a weighted wheel (61 slots — weighted so the jokers stay rare enough for a poker-shaped pay table; a uniform draw would flatten it):

PrizeEffectWeight
<A> 2xwin ×2 when a natural Ace is in the best five12
<2><3><4> 2xwin ×2 when a natural 2/3/4 is in the best five12
<6><7><8> 2xwin ×212
<J><Q><K> 2xwin ×212
<7> 3xwin ×3 when a natural 7 is in the best five9
JOKERone fully wild card joins the deal1
JOKER 2Xone wild card joins and the win pays ×2 (always applies — the wild is always in the hand)1

Joker rounds are 3.4% of rounds; a JOKER round averages ≈ 2.1x, a JOKER 2X round ≈ 4.3x. Multiplier prizes apply ~49% of the time overall. The jokers' rarity (plus a hard-trimmed top end) is what funds the bottom pays — the Royal and Five of a Kind hold almost no RTP themselves (~1.6 points combined at their old pays), so lifting Trips to 1x leaned on the wheel and the SF/Royal cuts. The joker faces carry the accent-tinted joker image (public/assets/draw8_assets/joker.png, preloaded via the layout sheet's assets manifest).

Pay table

Royal Flush 40× (natural only — a joker-assisted ace-high pays as Straight Flush) · Five of a Kind 8× (jokers only) · Straight Flush 6× · Four of a Kind 4× · Full House 2× · Flush 1.5× · Straight 1.5× · Three of a Kind 1× · Two Pair 0.5× (the one hand paying less than the hand above it by design). Pair and less pay nothing.

  • RTP: ≈ 97.7% by 10M-round simulation (hit rate ≈ 63%); tile declares 97.7.
  • Maths: Draw8Engine (resolveDeal shared by live + simulate; draws = 52-card shuffle, then one wheel-slot draw) + handEval (best-5-of-8 with 0–2 wilds; jokers are the sentinels 52/53 in the returned hand, and only natural cards satisfy a multiplier prize's rank). Round resolves atomically in startRound, stays active until the reveal acknowledges; an interrupted deal is recovered and re-dealt on next load.
  • Client: Draw8Game (zodiac-style state machine, blackjack-style animation queue), Draw8Table (frame arch, prize seat, joker spawning, ranked-row result move + fade-out), Draw8PrizeCard (prize faces + the spawned joker cards; the prize stays on the table, pulsing when it applied and dimming when it didn't). Reuses Blackjack's Card (per-game back via DRAW8_CARD_BACK), DeckSlide, and shuffleCheatFloats (Force Royal Flush dev cheat).
